Dinner and Theosophy

I had a very fine dinner at the White Dog Cafe and Restaurant in Philadelphia last night, courtesy of my department.

So what does this have to do with the New Age, ascended Masters, or any of that stuff?

It turns out that the White Dog is a huge converted rowhouse, the former residence of no other than Helena P. Blavatsky, the scholar, teacher, mystic, spiritualist, and uninhibited eccentric. She was also one of the founders of the Theosophical Society.

She sounds like my kind of gal.
